現況與展望 Current Situation and Prospects

本院目前包括三系(含:三個碩士班)一個研究所，三個系成立時間分別為：社會工作學系(2000)、人類發展學系(2001)、東方語文學系(2001)；三個碩士班/一個研究所為：社會工作碩士班(1998)、人類發展學系碩士班(前身為人類學研究所(1999) ，2007更名 ，下設「應用人類學」與「臨床心理學」二組)、宗教與人文研究所(前身為宗教與文化研究所(2000)，2011更名) 、東方語文學系碩士班(2011)。各系所均有獨特的目標，系所間的空間與人力彼此支援，構成本院重要的學術基石，並逐步成為花東地區重要的學術與社會服務網絡。創設本校的慈濟基金會豐沛的人力資源，使本院同仁在學術研究及社會服務方面，比其他大學具備更有利的條件。

The College now consists of three departments (each with a master’s program) and one institute. The three departments are: Department of Social Work (founded in 2000), Department of Human Development (founded in 2001), and Department of Oriental Languages and Literature (founded in 2001). Departments that offer master’s programs are: Social Work (founded in 1998), Human Development (formerly known as the Institute of Anthropology (1999), renamed in 2007, with sections in "Applied Anthropology" and "Clinical Psychology," and the Institute of Religion and Humanities (formerly the Institute of Religion and Culture (2000), renamed in 2011), and the master’s program in Oriental Languages and Literature (founded in 2011). The departments have their goals and collaborate with each other, in manpower and facilities, to build a solid academic groundwork for the College, and also play vital academic roles while providing needed social services in eastern Taiwan. Tzu Chi Foundation’s abundant resources provide faculty members and staff plentiful opportunities to conduct research and provide social services.

在區域資源共享方面，本院與東華大學的系所形成互補，並共享圖書設備、人力資源及研究成果等學術資源，二者結合成為東部的學術重鎮，並提供相當完整的教育資源。

In terms of resource sharing in eastern Taiwan, the College and numerous departments of National Dong Hwa University complement each other and share academic resources such as books, equipment, human resources, and research endeavors. In eastern Taiwan, Tzu Chi University and National Dong Hwa University play important roles in research, teaching, and social services.

本校秉持創辦人  證嚴上人「以人為本」的教育理念，實踐「慈悲喜捨」、「尊重生命」的最高指導原則，於民國八十三年十月，創立慈濟醫學院。其後數年間，逐年增加系所，並擴充學術領域至人文社會科學。民國八十七年八月，奉准改制為慈濟醫學暨人文社會學院，民國八十九年八月改制為慈濟大學，同時並設立生命科學院、人文社會學院及教育傳播學院。

Tzu Chi College of Medicine was founded in October 1994, to uphold the educational principles of its founder, Dharma Master Cheng Yen, and prepare students with professionalism and humanism, respecting life, and living everyday with kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. In August 1998, it added many departments and institutes and was renamed Tzu Chi College of Medicine, Humanities and Social Sciences. In August 2000, Tzu Chi University was established with the College of Medicine, College of Life Sciences, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and College of Education and Communication.
